US Treasury Department Office of the Comptroller Awards People Soft Contract to Mind Safety Management, LLC
June 7, 2008
Just days after celebrating it 5th year in business, MSM, LLC was awarded a People Soft Contract with the Office of the Comptroller, US Treasury Department (OCC). The OCC's activities are predicated on four objectives that support their mission to provide a stable and competitive national banking system: to ensure the safety and soundness of the national banking system; to foster competition by allowing banks to offer new products and services; to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of OCC supervision, including reducing regulatory burdens; and to ensure fair and equal access to financial services for all Americans. "We are pleased to help the OCC reach its listed objectives by always utilizing a Process Based, Best Practice Committed, Risk Averse Management approach to our project oversight," said MSM COO Ralph J. Thompson.
The OCC uses information technology (IT) systems to support a broad range of functions. These systems are produced through collaboration by OCC internal business units whose functions they support, the program management offices (PMOs) that manage the business unit's IT portfolios, and ITS, the centralized IT organization that is responsible for the technology supporting the IT portfolios. Currently the portfolio of Production Control Activities Workflows (PCAW) is varied in complexity and user intervention. The portfolios contain a mixture of custom coded applications and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, which are supported primarily by a Microsoft-based architecture. Additionally, there are some Lotus Notes data transfer applications and a few applications that are supported by a mainframe architecture. Presently, Control-M 6.1.03 is the scheduling software employed at OCC for this function.
The OCC's Control-M version 6.1.03 needs to be upgraded to Control-M 6.3. The documentation received with the Control - M product provides some installation and upgrade guidance but more specialized support was needed for support of Control-M servers and agents. The OCC has partnered with MSM to obtain implementation support services to upgrade Control - M servers and agents for the agency's Information Technology Services (ITS) organization. We provide on-site support, installation, implementation and knowledge transfer for all facets of the Control - M environment. The products supported in this engagement are: Control -M Enterprise, Control-M CTM, and PeopleSoft CM. Production control functions being addressed during the effort are: PeopleSoft Process Scheduler, DOS Batch Files, FEBOOTI, PUTTY Suite, MKS Toolkit (Perl), SQR, and WinSCP35.
"It has truly been a great five years of growth for MSM, LLC, and with clients like the OCC continuing to show their belief in our processes and organization, we can meet any project management challenge that companies may have," said Peter Jones, MSM's CEO.
